Mandatory Education and Age Requirements:

Education Requirements
  • All persons born after June 30th, 1980 must successfully complete a boating education course approved by the MDWFP to legally operate a vessel. Proof of course completion must be carried aboard by those required to have a certificate.
  • In addition, all boaters less than 12 years of age must be accompanied on board by and adult who is at least 21 years of age.
