The BoatUS Foundation's Online Course is the only free Online Boating Safety Course approved by the South Dakota Department of Game, Fish & Parks.

Although South Dakota currently has no mandatory education requirements, the Department of Game, Fish & Parks recommends taking a boating safety course. However, there are age requirements for the operation of motorboats and PWC's. For more information on South Dakota's boating regulations, click State Requirements above.

The BoatUS Foundation's South Dakota Boating course consists of 6 lessons and a Final Exam. Each lesson has a 10-question quiz at the end. The Final exam is 75 questions and you must pass with with a score of 80% or better.
