The BoatUS Foundation's Online Course is the only free Online Boating Safety Course approved by the Oregon State Marine Board.Approved by the Oregon State Marine Board

All Oregon boaters must have a Boater Education Card issued by the Oregon State Marine Board in order to operate a boat or PWC. For more information on Oregon's boating regulations, click State Requirements above.

The BoatUS Foundation's Oregon Boating course consists of 6 lessons and a Final Exam. Pages are timed such that you must spend a minimum of 3 hours studying the course material before taking the Final Exam. Each lesson has a 10-question quiz which you must pass with a score of at least 80% or you will be required to repeat the entire lesson. The Final exam is 75 questions and you must pass with with a score of 80% or better.

To get your Oregon Boater Education Card, follow these 4 simple steps:

  2. Create an account and enroll yourself in the Oregon Boating Safety Course from the Course Catalog
  3. Take the course and pass the Final Exam - it's absolutely free to take the course and exam
  4. Print out your temporary certificate yourself for free and mail a copy to the Oregon State Marine Board along with this form and $10 to get your permanent Boater Education Card.
