The BoatUS Foundation's Online Course is the only free Online Boating Safety Course approved by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.

All Iowa boaters 12 - 17 years of agemust complete a boating safety course approved by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources in order to operate a boat or PWC. For more information on Iowa's boating regulations, click State Requirements above.

The BoatUS Foundation's Iowa Boating course consists of an 8 chapter study guide and a Final Exam. Each chapter has a 5-question quiz at the end. The Final exam is 75 questions and you must pass with with a score of 80% or better.
